Cotton Vs Viscose?
Magnified images of typical fibers used in towels show the variety of surface geometry and surface textures. Computing the measure of 'sliding friction' is fairly complicated. As a general rule the more fractal (rough) the surface, the more friction it will produce.
As can be seen from the images above the viscoe fibers used in DermaGear™ are very smooth and consistent. The geometry of the fiber is one of the reasons DermaGear™ performs better than paper towels or cotton gauze. Consistent smooth fibers, reduce friction on the skin and significantly limit residual fiber left behind during wiping that can interfere with needles and tubes during micropigmentation applications.
